  • How to Brew Herbal Tea: 3 Simple Methods for the Perfect Cup
June 25, 2025

Brewing herbal tea is a beautiful, grounding ritual that connects you to the earth and yourself. Whether you're winding down after a long day or starting your morning with intention, the right brewing method can make all the difference in flavor and experience.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to brew our Deer Soul herbal teas using an infuser, a Mason jar, or a teapot—so you can enjoy your favorite blend any time, anywhere.

📽️ Watch the step-by-step video below or keep reading for all three methods!

1. Brew with a Tea Infuser (Quick & Convenient)

This method is perfect for busy mornings or solo cups.

You’ll need:

  • A water boiler
  • A coaster
  • A glass mug with a lid and infuser
  • Herbal tea
  • A teaspoon

Steps:

  1. Read the instructions on the back of your tea pouch.
  2. Boil water (we're using 212°F for this blend).
  3. Scoop 3 teaspoons of tea into the infuser (2–3 tsp per 8oz water).
  4. Pour in the hot water.
  5. Cover with the lid.
  6. Steep for 5 minutes.
  7. Remove the infuser, and your tea is ready to enjoy!

🌿 Tip: For stronger flavor, steep a little longer—herbal teas won’t get bitter like traditional teas.

2. Brew with a Mason Jar (Great for Cold or Large Batches)

Ideal for brewing ahead or making iced tea.

You’ll need:

  • A water boiler
  • A Mason jar
  • A coaster
  • A mug
  • Your favorite herbal tea
  • A teaspoon
  • An infuser or strainer

Steps:

  1. Check the brewing instructions on the back of your tea pouch.
  2. Boil water (we’re using 212°F for this blend).
  3. Scoop 3 teaspoons of tea into the teapot (2–3 tsp per 8oz of water).
  4. Pour hot water.
  5. Cover the lid.
  6. Steep for 5 minutes.
  7. Put an infuser on top of the mug.
  8. Pour into your mug and enjoy! Want it Iced?

❄️ Just add 3 more teaspoons of tea and let it steep as usual. Add ice after steeping for a refreshing cold brew!

3. Brew with a Teapot (Perfect for Sharing)

A cozy, elegant way to serve herbal tea to guests—or yourself.

You’ll need:

  • A water boiler
  • A coaster
  • A teapot with infuser
  • A mug
  • Herbal tea
  • A teaspoon

Steps:

  1. Read the instructions on the back of your tea pouch.
  2. Boil water to the recommended temperature (we use 212°F based on the instructions).
  3. Scoop 5 teaspoons of tea into the teapot (2–3 tsp per 8 oz water).
  4. Pour the hot water into the teapot.
  5. Cover with the lid.
  6. Let it steep for 5 minutes.
  7. Pour your tea into a mug — enjoy!

✨ Feel free to adjust the tea-to-water ratio to create your perfect cup!

  1. I love using the Mason jar method and popping it in the fridge—it’s such an easy way to make iced herbal tea ahead of time. So refreshing, especially with Vita Hibiscus! Anyone else brewing cold?
