Our story began with a moment of surprise in a CVS aisle — surrounded by rows of prescription bottles, we couldn't help but wonder: Is there a more natural way to support everyday well-being? That question became the spark for Deer Soul. Rooted in our backgrounds in horticulture, we set out to blend the best of Eastern and Western herbal traditions into products that are as gentle as they are effective. Barron deepened her expertise through formal herbalism training, and together we built something we're truly proud of — natural remedies crafted to help you feel good, inside and out.

Why We’re Called Deer Soul?
We want to care for your body, mind, and soul through natural wellness. The name began as Dear Soul—a heartfelt message to those we serve. We changed it to Deer, the gentle animal from the forest, to symbolize our deep connection with nature.
Just as the deer carries the spirit of the wild, our products bring the gifts of nature directly to you—pure, nurturing, and crafted to support your well-being.

2022 09
Inspired at a pharmacy aisle, we wondered: Could there be a natural alternative to everyday wellness? That question sparked the beginning of Deer Soul.
2023 05
We officially became Deer Soul LLC, turning our vision into a business focused on natural herbal teas and plant-based self-care.
2023 07
Created our first product prototypes, blending herbs in small batches and testing with friends and family.
2023 08
Launched our first full production run, introducing 7 signature herbal tea blends.
2023 09
Opened our online store and sold our very first pouch through Green Wisdom Herbal Marketplace.
2023 10
Debuted at our first farmers market at Farmakis Farms in San Juan Capistrano.
2023 11
Welcomed into our first retail store, Open Market OC in San Clemente.

Expanded to San Diego Mission Valley Mall, our second retail location.

Secured our weekend farmers market schedule, now regularly serving communities in OC every Wednesday to Sunday.

Our first Northern California retail partner, Heartland Shop, began carrying Deer Soul herbal products.

Moved into The Hood Kitchen, a shared commercial kitchen, to support our growing production needs.

Barron Chang
With a background in horticulture and agriculture, and herbalism training from Green Wisdom, Barron is passionate about bringing the healing power of plants into daily life. She leads product creation and design with intention and care. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, hiking, and reconnecting with nature, where her creativity and purpose truly come alive.
Root Keeper & Co-Founder
With a background in horticulture and an MBA from UC Davis, Mindy keeps Deer Soul rooted and thriving — managing sourcing, operations, and all the behind-the-scenes details that bring our products to life. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, hiking, discovering new food and music, playing the cello, and spending time with animals (especially alpacas!).
